Solutions and Resources

Our approach is based on solution-focused and resource-oriented therapy. For us, that means taking the following steps toward the change that you hope to see.

Dreams

The seed of positive change can be seen in dreams and aspirations for the future. Even small dreams can bring about big change, if we only allow our dreams to grow. They make us conscious of what we want life to offer us. Dreaming of a better tomorrow gives us the wings to carry us to our destination.

Hope

Hope is the belief in the possibility of change. Hope is also trust in our ability to accomplish what is important for us. Trust in our own possibilities grows when we recognize where we have succeeded or persevered in the past. Appreciating our own strengths and skills gives us the means to better our situation.

Goals

Our vision and aspirations for the future tell us what kind of change we are looking for. But our goals are the beacon that points us toward change. In our hurry we may loose our goals or find out our original goal was not the one we want to aspire towards after all. When this happens it is best to return to our underlying hopes and dreams to build a new basis for our goals.

Sharing

Sharing our goals is helpful, because saying them out loud can fortify our faith in reaching them and give us motivation. Other people can give us support, resolution and ideas for exciting new plans. A friend can also help us carry on when we feel like our resolve is waning.

First Steps

Everything has to begin from somewhere. The choice to do something about your situation is the first steps towards your goal. Little by little, small steps can cause big changes. However, if big changes are expected immediately, the pressure for results can be enough to break anyone's resolve. Instead, taking note of small steps towards progress will give you strength to carry on.

Action

Action is made up of small day-to-day deeds taking you towards change. It is following through with your decisions and going forward in your own pace, step by step. Be open to different routes and alternate solutions to make your plans flexible. Action towards your personal goals will often cause positive changes in how you think and feel as well.

Change

Often change in one place can also bring about change elsewhere. In fact, change is constant, even if you do not always perceive it – the water might look still in places, but the river flows on. The power of the current should be utilized and redirected if needed. Appreciating progress and recognizing your accomplishments is an integral part of the process, as is giving recognition to others for the help you have received.
